The Ormskirk & District Bowling League was first formed in 1922 and accepted teams from a radius of 10 miles from the centre of Ormskirk, unfortunately early records are no longer available.

In 1939 the League was reformed with 13 clubs taking part, these being, Comrades, Dray & Horses, Cambridge, Dog & Gun, Bull & Dog, Junction, The Park, St Annes, Ropers Arms, Ring O Bells, Windmill, Eureka and the Halton Castle.

It is good to see that six of those teams still play an active part in the present League.

The Comrades Club is the headquarters of the League, and the 10 mile radius rule no longer applies.

The League is now represented by 26 clubs fielding a total of 28 teams forming three divisions and having 585 registered players.

Teams now come from  Ormskirk, Westhead, Burscough, Aughton, Maghull, Formby, Skelmersdale and Up Holland. The League  runs from April through to September with games played on a Tuesday evening.

Within the league programme are two major competitions, one being an individual competition and the other a pairs competition.
